To the faithful scattered about this globe,
I bring good tiddings of great news. Throughout our most recent trip to the jungle, big steps, even giant leaps, were made in regards to our relationship with the villages and concerning the growth of the church as well.
We were invited several times to hunt with the men of Masenawa, which is a great honor; we ate dinner often with the chiefs of Shintuya and Masenawa; were endowed with new native Harakmbut names; received our very own sets of hunting bows and arrows that Jose, an old man and fellow believer, carved for us; and worked constantly with the people as we fished, chopped down trees, hauled leaves for roofs, gathered fruit, hunted, and helped out in their crop fields. More and more, all barriers of language, culture, nationality, age, and heritage, and all differences for that matter, are fading away to the point of disapearing entirely. This finds us delighting in all that is left; namely, the fellowship and friendship of the body of Christ.
The Father continues to greatly grow my love for the Amarakaeri.
Concerning the church, Jesus saved more of the lost, other Christians obeyed in baptism, and the freedom of the Bodies has become as apparent, obvious and present as the Spirit that leads them. So I wrote in respect to the Hut Church in Masenawa:
10/7/04: I am pleased to say that the church in Masenawa does not have the Dr. Jekyl-Mr. Hyde type of relationship with God. Meaning, the Brothers don't display two different lives. They don't separate their Christian life from their everyday life.
Rather, their devotion to Christ invades their every moment. These new Christians, are constantly delighting in the presence of the Father. Whether they are lumberjacks chopping down trees, hunters tracking wild game, fishermen casting nets, farmers planting seeds, or believers fellowshipping together, the Irey family has recently adopted a lifestyle that finds them praising God and telling His marvelous stories throughout everything they do.
God's word has indeed invaded the hearts of this family, thus producing a beautiful portrayal of the Bride of Christ that the Lord is so faithfully pursuing throughout the world.
Your prayers never go unanswered!
